The Journal of Darkness Falls

Darkness Falls is the campaign world in which our adventures take place. The Lord of the Realm, Dungeon Master, and published fantasy writer Charlie Dunwoody has created a world unlike any found in mere mortal textbooks. Charlie has allowed our team of adventurers the opportunity to grow in a world that is both multifaceted and goal oriented. There is no limits of what will be possible in this D&D 3.5 Adventure that is 20 years in the making!

Name:
Location: Mere Lake Region

My name is Phillip, and I've been a Dungeons and Dragons player and part time Dungeon Master for about 15 years. My first adventures with Thor the Fighter took place through a friend and his uncle, and over time I have played in many different games with many different players. My current DM, Charlie Dunwoody and I have played on and off with roughly the same core group of players for about 5 years. Darkness Falls is truly the adventure we've been waiting for, with the group expanding with the addition of Rom and Scott. This journal blog will be written from the viewpoint of Tredis as he grows in the world of Darkness Falls. Views of his friends and the world around him will be written from the perspective of this character.

Ark'iulok Xykok'grok, Born in Darkness and turned to Light

The companions of my group are true warriors. Each has taken his own passage through fire and turmoil to reach the level needed by any who would call themselves adventurers and live more than one night doing it! One who has experienced the most personal pain and turned it into a drive to destroy all who mercilessly kill is the Darfellan, Ark. We shorten his name, for the human tongue has not the complexity needed to vocalize his real name without choking. The name we have chosen for him is the last syllable of his given name, it is simply the easiest to pronounce. At first I believe Ark took offense to our shortening of his name, as if he were taking some honor from him. But as we grew together as a team, I think he recognized that trying to annunciate his entire name in the heat of battle would likely get someone killed.

We recently had the opportunity as a team to sit down and have his lifestory told to us. The Darfellan are facinating historians, as most of their history is passed down orally; and there was great fanfare and exhibition indeed from this normally quiet sentient while he recanted his story in both mimericy and verbal forms. I recorded much of what he spoke word for word as I will recopy to my journal below.

Year 985 AE
Inspring 1
Ash's Day

Under the light of a full moon was born Ark'iulok Xykok'grok, Son ofLorikax Xykok'grok Great Warrior and Leader of a small clan ofDarfellan that lived near the Circe Sea. The eerie glow of the moon on the all white Ark'iulok brought with itan eerie silence. For this birth meant great events would start to happen in the world. But the proud father could not ponder over such things, as much as times like this should be joyful. Tonight was not to be. For at that moment, the clan was on the run from a large hunting party of sahuagin that had burned the village and was hunting them down.

Ark'iulok was given to an elder to take to a safe village. As the elder swam away with the youngling, the sashuagin swarmed the clan. The last that was seen of his clan was of them wading through the sahuagin and mowing them down like wheat during the harvest. The Elder Ulivrox Molzix decided it would be safer to avoid villages for the most part and instead raised Ark'iulok teaching him all he could about their history. And so Ark'iulok grew helping Ulivrox in his hunts for Legendary Monsters.

In 996 AE Inwinter 13th, a village of Darfellan was being troubled by a Sisiutl in the area. As we were tracking it down a hunting party of Sahuagin came upon us. Elder Ulivrox slew 50 Sahuagin before theybrought him down. Never having seen a white Darfallen before they took Ark'iulok back to their village as a prize for their leader. Later that night Volkar along with a band of Shining Crusade Knights attacked the Sahuagin village after tracking them back from a raid on a town near Mere Lake. Seeing his chance, Ark'iulok rose up with a great fury and killed the Sahuagin leader with his bare hands. Volkar brought Ark'iulok back with him to train him.

Story as told by Ark'iulok Xykok'grok, Darfellan, recorded by Sir Tredis Shadowbane for historical record.
